While it’s unlikely that one may forget the passcode of their iPhone but there could be circumstances when such a situation arises. It can be quite a hassle to unlock an iPhone if you’ve forgotten your passcode. However, do not fret as we bring to you a step-by-step guide that will help you to get out of this tricky situation. Before we begin, do keep in mind that any data on the iPhone will no longer be available as you’ll need to erase the device. However, if you backed up your iPhone then all data can be restored. If you never backed up your iPhone before the passcode mishap took place, say au revoir, sayonara or goodbye to your data. These are the steps that you need to follow:

1.If you don’t have iTunes then download it on your Mac/Windows PC.

2.Connect your iPhone with the PC and open iTunes

3.You will now need to force restart your iPhone

4.To force restart an iPhone X or later, or iPhone 8 or later

Press and quickly release the Volume Up button. Press and quickly release the Volume Down button. Then, press and hold the Side button until you see the recovery-mode screen.

5.If you have an iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus

Press and hold both the Side and Volume Down buttons at the same time. Keep holding them until you see the recovery-mode screen.

6.If you have an iPhone 6s and earlier

Press and hold both the Home and the Top (or Side) buttons at the same time. Keep holding them until you see the recovery-mode screen.

7.Now you will see the option to “Restore” or “Update”

8.Choose the “Restore” option

9.iTunes will now download software for your iPhone.

10.However, if it takes more than 15 minutes to download the software then the iPhone will automatically exit recovery mode.

11.If that happens, then you need connect iPhone with PC again and force restart it.
